Spotify’s Partner Plan Drives Growth in Video Podcast Revenue and Audience

Spotify launched its Partner Program last month, a new monetization system for podcast creators in the U.S., U.K., Canada, and Australia. The program allows creators to earn through multiple streams, like payouts from Spotify Premium video engagement (in select markets) and ads on Spotify Free and other platforms. This setup gives creators more control over their revenue, helping them adapt to the growing podcast audience.
The program’s impact is already clear. Since its launch, video podcast consumption on Spotify has risen by over 20%, and creator payouts in January 2025 surged by 300% compared to the previous year. Many creators are earning big, with hundreds making over $10,000 monthly, and top earners hitting six figures in the first month.
Examples of success include Modern Wisdom by Chris Williamson, which saw a 36% consumption boost, We’re All Insane by Devorah Roloff, earning over $17,000, and Kinda Funny Gamecast, which made $10,000. Spotify aims to keep fueling creator earnings while improving the video podcast experience for users as consumption grows.
