Mexico’s Podcast Boom Takes Center Stage at Spotify’s First Awards
Mexico’s passion for podcasts has turned into a way of life, with over 27 million listeners streaming on Spotify in 2024, a 19% jump from last year. To honor this growing community, Spotify is launching its first-ever Spotify Podcast Awards in Mexico. Thais Tavara, Spotify Mexico’s Head of Podcasts, shared that the awards aim to celebrate the creativity and cultural impact of Mexican podcasters while giving fans a fun way to support their favorite creators by voting in the app.
The awards cover 10 exciting categories, including comedy, true crime, wellness, and gossip, showcasing the wide variety of podcasts loved by Mexican audiences. Spotify picked the nominees based on listener stats and critical praise from 2024. Voting opens from May 7 to May 21, directly in the Spotify app. Free users get one vote per category daily, while Premium users can cast three votes per category each day. The winners will be revealed live on Spotify Mexico’s TikTok on June 4.
The nominees include popular shows like Relatos de la Noche and La Cotorrisa for Top Podcast, Paranormal and INSOMNIO for Favorite Horror, and Gusgri Podcast and La entrevista con Yordi Rosado for Favorite Interview. Other categories feature podcasts like Se Regalan Dudas in Things of Love, Los Niños del Narco in Documentary, and Chisme Corporativo in Gossip, among many others.
